I’ve said for years there’s only two types of baggage: carry-on and lost. If you do have to check your luggage, it might help to know which airline has the worst record of mishandling checked bags — losing, damaging or destroying them.

While the airlines boast that more than 99% of bags are ultimately delivered to their owners, that 1% represents a lot of bags.

American Airlines is the biggest offender, mishandling nearly 65,000 bags per month, nearly 2 bags per each plane.

Southwest loses 46,000 bags.

United loses 41,000 bags per month.

Ok, so who does best or perhaps less worst?

Frontier mishandled just 3,773 bags. And Allegiant Air has only 847 bags lost per month.
