Now that the dust has settled, and we’ve parsed through everything we saw to weed out those without staying power, we’re presenting the best spring bag trends, ahead.

Part of what made September’s runways so exciting was all the whimsy. There were bear-shaped bags, nods to childhood, and outlandish styling. There’s no resisting the charm of these miniature bags that appeared at shows like Michael Kors, Fendi, and Stella McCartney.

On the Fringe

Fringe was all over the spring/summer runways, and not just as it pertains to bags. From Dolce & Gabbana dresses to Diesel scarves, everyone put their own spin on the boho element. As for purses, heavy hitters like Chanel, Dior, Hermès, Fendi, and Louis Vuitton all took part, signaling that accessories with movement are in this season.

Year of the Snake

Animal print is eternal, but 2025 is about reptilian varieties, specifically. (And maybe a touch of zebra, while you’re at it...) Although houses like Bottega Veneta, Khaite, and Dries Van Noten showcased this via footwear on the runways, it was bags from Louis Vuitton and Jil Sander that really caught our attention.

It’s always a bonus when trends feature some practicality, so we know you’ll be excited about this next one. Commuters rejoice, because these doctor bags can actually hold all your belongings. While houses like Dior and Prada leaned into the classic, almost bowler bag structure, designers like Michael Kors and Louis Vuitton opted for more briefcase-like silhouettes.

If you assumed this trend faded with the fall season, you thought wrong. If anything, get ready to double down on these rectangular forms, cleverly dubbed “East West” bags. Be it a shoulder bag like those at Prada and Miu Miu, a top handle from Brandon Maxwell, or a clutch like the one we saw at Bottega Veneta, this silhouette is as relevant as ever.

Canvas and leather are a tried-and-true pairing, albeit historically overlooked—until now. Thom Browne, Valentino, and Gabriela Hearst were among the many runways where this dynamic duo could be found. Finally, canvas is getting its flowers this spring.

Oh hello, bucket bags; we meet again. Everyone’s favorite bottomless pits are in full effect for this year’s spring/summer collections. Some took the form of drawstring bags, like at Off-White, Giambattista Valli, and Hermès, while others went for an open top, like Gucci and Prada.
